There are very few places on this earth as diverse as America’s beautiful West. This region is greatly well known, thanks in part to the famous California cities of San Francisco, Los Angeles & San Diego. Then there is the area’s splendid coastline – sun-kissed and iconic in California, wild and forested as it runs north into Oregon and Washington.

Once you venture inland, the West turns into dust. Las Vegas sparkles with it’s neon signs in its desert setting as the biggest city in Nevada. Utah throws forth epic rock formations – not least amid the high monoliths of Monument Valley and the scarred earth of Canyonlands National Park, and who can ever forget Zion National Park?

Then there are the mountain states: Colorado, where the Rockies rear up magnificently; Idaho and Montana, where the combination of wide blue skies and snowy peaks is incredibly photogenic; Wyoming, where the geysers of Yellowstone National Park erupt with their fury. Then there’s America’s wild frontier – Alaska, at the far north-western corner of the US, a boundless realm of enormous summits and ancient glaciers that stands as the Great Outdoors at its greatest.

In America’s West you can do a little of everything: a cultured city break; a few days of skiing; learn to surf; hiking, biking and climbing amid unparalleled scenery; an afternoon of wine-tasting in Napa; a long road trip and drive along the famous Route 66, or up the coast on Highway 101. Regardless of your travel style, the American West has something for everyone.
