Happy Hotel šŸØ Feature Friday!Ā  Itā€™s been awhile since weā€™ve done one of theseā€¦you can say itā€™s been overdue.Ā  So Iā€™m glad that we are finally getting around to featuring some of our favorite hotels in 2022.

ā€œWe are what we repeatedly do.Ā  Excellence, therefore is not an act but a habit.ā€ – AristotleĀ

Talking about excellenceā€¦Our #1 favorite hotel in New Orleans is The Pontchartrain Hotel, itā€™s in the Garden District and itā€™s absolutely fabulous. My only regret is not staying there for the entire 8 days of our trip.Ā  There isnā€™t anything about this property that we didnā€™t like; although not all the amenities were available during our stay due to Covid!Ā  It still was an amazing visit, and they definitely have made excellence a habit!! From the perfectly appointed furnishings, interior decorations, the staff, the roomy accommodations, the Hot Tin rooftop bar (best rooftop bar in NOLA), The Silver Whistle Cafe, the Jack Rose Restaurant, to the Bayou Bar, every single part of this hotel is wonderful.Ā  There wasnā€™t anything about our stay at the Pontchartrain Hotel that we didnā€™t LOVE

Probably one of the most memorable parts of our stay was on Friday Night when AshtonĀ Parker (the best trumpet šŸŽŗ player Iā€™ve ever heard) and other Jazz Musicians were the entertainment for the evening.Ā  Just by chance and a little good luck, we ended up sharing our table with some of his musician friends &
colleagues, and they invited us to join them the following evening to a couple ofĀ venues around Frenchmen Street.Ā  Jerry our VP is a trumpet player as well and he was invited to join him anytime we return to NOLA. Ā

Itā€™s convenient location in the Garden District is about 15 minutes from the French Quarter, which is perfect.Ā  The French Quarter getā€™s a little nuts and is super noisy, and dirty, so it was a welcome change from the Ritz & JW. Ā  Not that we didnā€™t like the French Quarter, the JW or the Ritz, we did! Itā€™s just an entirely different experience.Ā

From the moment you walk into the front entrance and are greeted at check in, everything is inviting, the staff, the decor, the perfectly appointed furnishings; when you walk into the Pontchartrain there isnā€™t any part that wasnā€™t well thought out and intentionally doneā€¦itā€™s like you stepped into the 1920ā€™s.Ā  We stayed in room 703, and we had everything we needed; not that we spend a lot of time in our room, but itā€™s always nice to come home to a nice place!Ā

The hotel was originally an apartment building built in the early 1920ā€™s; which is why I think it has a feeling of home. It wasnā€™t until the 1990ā€™s that it was turned into a hotel, and thank goodnessā€¦I could not image New Orleans without the Pontchartrain Hotel.Ā  Itā€™s hard to believe that itā€™s almost 100 years old.Ā

Do you want to know some cool šŸ˜Ž trivia and history? The Bayou Bar is where the New Orleans Saints became the Saintsā€¦on November 1st, 1966; 55 years ago! The contracts for the team were signed in the bar, and thereā€™s a photo commemorating itā€¦how cool is that?!!!

So remember, when you visit New Orleans that the Pontchartrain Hotel in the Garden District is THE place to stay if youā€™re looking to have a wonderful experience and a home away from home in NOLA!Ā

At Indulgent Vacations & Destinations, Inc., we take great pride in the fact that we stay in the properties we sell and promote.Ā  Doing a hotel site inspection is an important part of our industry, and every travel professional that sells accommodations should participate, making it an active and important part of their job.Ā  But it isnā€™t until you actually stay the night at the property, that you truly know what your clients experience is going to be like.Ā  We are not paid, nor do we receive any discounts to promote these propertiesā€¦we do it because we are genuinely recommending these hotels to our followers, friends, family and clients.Ā  These properties are the ones we want and will return to for our personal stays when we revisit; and The Pontchartrain Hotel will be our home away from home in NOLA!

Stay safe, and remember, if you leave your place, cover your face šŸ˜·.
